What is a lorem ipsum generator and how does this one work?

Lorem ipsum is scrambled pseudo-Latin filler text that designers and printers have used since the 1500s to fill a layout without real copy. The point is that the words carry no meaning, so a reviewer judges spacing, line length, and hierarchy instead of getting pulled into reading. This generator does not reproduce the famous fixed 'Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet' passage. Instead it draws words uniformly at random from a fixed pool of about seventy Latin-looking words taken from the classic lorem ipsum text. Each sentence is a random run of 8 to 19 words ending in a period, and each paragraph strings together 4 to 7 of those sentences. Because the selection is random, the output is different every time you regenerate and will not match the traditional opening line. Only the first letter of each paragraph is capitalized; sentences inside a paragraph are not individually capitalized, and there is no comma punctuation. It is deliberately simple — fine for blocking out layouts, but not a faithful reproduction of canonical lorem ipsum.

Does this produce the classic 'Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet' text?▼
No. It picks words at random from a Latin-looking word pool, so the output changes every time and does not start with the traditional opening line. If you need the canonical passage verbatim, copy it from a reference source instead.
Is lorem ipsum a real language?▼
Not really. The words come from a scrambled passage of Cicero's Latin, so they look Latin but read as nonsense. That is intentional — meaningless text keeps reviewers focused on layout instead of content.
How long can the output be?▼
The count field accepts 1 to 50. So you can generate up to 50 paragraphs, 50 sentences, or 50 words at a time. For more, generate again and append the results.
Why does the punctuation look basic?▼
Sentences end with a period and each paragraph is capitalized at the start only. There are no commas, semicolons, or mid-sentence capitalization. It is a lightweight generator meant for blocking out layouts, not for polished typographic samples.
Should I use real content instead of placeholder text?▼
When you can, yes. Real copy exposes problems that filler hides — awkward line breaks, headings that are too long, and content that overflows its container. Use lorem ipsum early, then swap in real text before final review.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?▼
No. The text is generated entirely in your browser with JavaScript, and the Copy button writes to your local clipboard. Nothing is sent to a server.
