Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how RevealTheme ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit revealtheme.com or use our tools. We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and Google's publisher policies including the AdSense Program Policies.

1. Information we collect

We collect two categories of information:

  • URLs you submit to our detector tools. When you enter a URL into the WordPress, Shopify, Magento, Joomla, Drupal, Moodle, or PrestaShop theme detector, we fetch that public webpage to analyze it. The URL itself is processed in memory and not stored long-term.
  • Standard web analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our site. This includes anonymized IP, browser type, device, pages visited, and time on site. We do not collect personally identifiable information.
  • Newsletter and contact form submissions. If you subscribe to our newsletter or send a message via the contact form, we store your email and message in our database for the purpose of responding.

2. How we use it

  • To operate the detector tools and return results to you
  • To improve detection accuracy by analyzing aggregate patterns (never individual URLs)
  • To respond to support and feedback messages
  • To send occasional newsletter updates (you can unsubscribe at any time)

3. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies for:

  • Essential functionality — remembering your theme preference (light/dark mode) and dismissing the cookie banner.
  • Analytics — Google Analytics cookies (`_ga`, `_gid`) for traffic measurement.
  • Advertising — Google AdSense may set cookies to deliver relevant ads. You can opt out via Google Ad Settings.

4. Third-party services

We rely on the following third parties to run RevealTheme:

  • MongoDB Atlas — database storage
  • Hostinger — web hosting
  • Google Analytics — visitor analytics
  • Google AdSense — advertising (see detailed disclosure below)
  • Cloudflare — CDN (if enabled)

Each has its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing them.

4a. Google AdSense and advertising cookies

RevealTheme uses Google AdSense to serve advertisements. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to RevealTheme and other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info. For users in the European Economic Area, additional controls are available at www.youronlinechoices.eu.

Third-party advertising partners may collect information about your visits to RevealTheme and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. We do not have control over the cookies these third parties place; their use is subject to their own privacy policies. For more information about Google's privacy practices, see the Google Advertising Privacy & Terms.

We comply with Google's EU User Consent Policy and obtain explicit consent before placing non-essential cookies for users in the EEA, UK, and California. You can revoke consent at any time via the cookie banner accessible from the footer.

5. Affiliate disclosure

Some outbound links on RevealTheme are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Our editorial rankings are based on independent performance testing and verified reviews, never commission rates. See our full affiliate disclosure.

6. Your rights (GDPR + CCPA)

If you are in the European Economic Area, UK, or California, you have the right to:

  • Request a copy of your personal data
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

To exercise these rights, email hello@revealtheme.com.

7. Children's privacy

RevealTheme is not directed to children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we'll delete it.

8. Data retention

We retain newsletter subscriber emails until you unsubscribe. We retain contact form messages for 12 months after the last interaction. We retain anonymous analytics data for 14 months per Google Analytics defaults.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced via a notice on the site.
